Chalet Hallingskarvet

Chalet Hallingskarvet

Situated in the heart of the Norwegian mountains lies this rustic chalet which in fact is newly built. The main goal of the project was to make the house feel like it could equally well have been there for a hundred years, as opposed to being brand new. Hence, a lot of effort was put into investigating old building and painting techniques. To be true to the concept, old oak floors were sourced from French vineyards, special mixtures of oil were used to make the timber walls look old, brass was patinated to get an antique finish and linseed oil paint was used exclusively. Only natural materials like wood, stone, wool, linen, horsehair, down and cotton were used. An extensive amount of antiques were sourced to be combined with comfortable sofas and heavenly beds. The result is a deluxe traditional Norwegian chalet with an authenticity and charm hard to find in most other chalets of the day.
